When i create some global variable then deploy to server, after that i remove/rename them, then on the next deployment they're still available on engine. i have no official way to remove all redundant global variables. However we could provide a public API and an UI to manage them. If it is a common issue, please create a Issue or an entry in the most-wanted-fixes list..
